Manually Adding New Food Items
If you have searched our database and cannot find the item you would like to add to your food diary, you can add your item here. We offer two easy-to-use options for adding new foods: 1) Enter the nutrition data from the food packaging, or 2) Build a meal or recipe.
Entering Nutritional Data
Entering the nutrition data from the food packaging is fairly straight forward. Simply enter the information, select the correct meal, and click the "Add Food Item" button.
Meal/Recipe Builder
The meal/recipe builder is a powerful tool that serves two purposes. 1) It can be used to create a favorite meal, or 2) It can be used to enter the raw ingredients of a recipe.
If there are meals you eat on a regular basis, you can group the foods into a meal to speed up future food diary entries. For example, if you always order nachos, a bean burrito, and water at Taco Bell, build the meal and call it "My Taco Bell Meal." In the future, you can simply add the meal to your diary instead of looking for each item individually.
The recipe builder enables you to enter the raw ingredients of a recipe and determine the nutritional content of the end product. For example, you could enter the ingredients of your favorite black bean salsa recipe (e.g., onions, cilantro, black beans, diced tomato, and corn). Once you have built the recipe, you can add it to your fridge or search for it later.
